Australornis lovei

Australornis lovei is an extinct bird from Paleocene deposits of New Zealand, among the oldest known birds from that archipelago. This herbivorous avian provides evidence for the rapid diversification of modern bird lineages in the Southern Hemisphere immediately following the end-Cretaceous mass extinction approximately 66 million years ago.
