Belgirallus

Belgirallus

Belgirallus is an extinct genus of small rails from Oligocene or Miocene deposits of Belgium. These carnivorous or omnivorous rallid birds inhabited wetland and marsh environments of Paleogene Europe and are known from tarsal material. The genus contributes to the early Cenozoic fossil record of Rallidae, a family with one of the highest extinction rates among modern birds.

Carnivore

Belgirallus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
