Aviraptor longicrus is an extinct bird of prey from Oligocene or Miocene deposits of Poland. This carnivorous accipitrid or falconid is known from limb bone material and contributes to the sparse European Paleogene raptor fossil record. Its long-legged morphology (longicrus = long shin) suggests it was an active pursuit predator in open Neogene landscapes.
Diet & Feeding
Aviraptor longicrus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
