† Coeluridae is a family of small to medium carnivorous coelurosaur theropods historically used as a wastebasket taxon, though now more narrowly defined around Coelurus. Fragmentary material from Kazakhstan contributes to understanding the distribution of coelurid-grade theropods across the Jurassic landmasses and their role as small active predators.
Diet & Feeding
Coeluridae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
