† Eretiscus tonnii — an extinct bird from Argentina. Classification within Neornithes uncertain; possibly a passerine or near-passerine. Carnivorous or omnivorous. South American Cenozoic deposits yield diverse avian faunas; this taxon contributes to the incomplete understanding of Paleogene South.
Diet & Feeding
Eretiscus tonnii was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
