† Grus marshi — an extinct Pliocene or Pleistocene crane from North America. Large omnivorous wading bird named for paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh. North American Neogene deposits record multiple extinct crane species, suggesting greater historical crane diversity than the two extant North A.
Diet & Feeding
Grus marshi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
