† Palaeortyx phasianoides was an extinct quail-like bird (Phasianidae) from Hungary. A small Miocene galliform, it inhabited Eastern European woodlands and grasslands. Its pheasant-like morphology (phasianoides) guided its original assignment to Phasianidae.
