†Aquilavus was an extinct bird of uncertain affinities from Eocene to Oligocene France, tentatively placed near eagle-like raptors or large wading birds. Known from fragmentary remains, its precise classification remains unclear. Its fossils from Parisian Basin Paleogene deposits contribute to understanding the early diversification of birds across western Europe following the end-Cretaceous extinction.
Diet & Feeding
Aquilavus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
