† Bumbaniralla walbeckornithoides is an extinct carnivorous bird from the Paleogene fossil beds of Mongolia. Its species name indicates resemblance to Walbeck avian fauna — an important early Paleogene bird locality in Germany — suggesting shared primitive avian features. Recovered from the Bumban deposits of Central Asia, this taxon represents early Cenozoic carnivorous birds of uncertain systematic placement within Neornithes.
Diet & Feeding
Bumbaniralla walbeckornithoides was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
