Pachydyptes ponderosus

Pachydyptes ponderosus is an extinct giant Eocene penguin from New Zealand. Among the largest penguins known, estimated at 1.5 m tall and ~100 kg, it inhabited warm Eocene Southern Ocean waters before the Antarctic cooling.

Carnivore

Pachydyptes ponderosus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
