† Palaeocryptonyx was an extinct quail-like phasianid genus (Galliformes) from France. Known from Miocene deposits, members of this genus were small ground-dwelling birds whose diet remains uncertain. Their fossils shed light on Neogene galliform diversity across Western Europe.
