† Calonectris krantzi is an extinct shearwater from the Pliocene of the United States, belonging to the seabird genus Calonectris within the family Procellariidae. Calonectris shearwaters are wide-ranging pelagic seabirds that feed on fish and squid by plunge-diving or surface-seizing. This extinct species contributes to the fossil record of Pliocene procellariid diversity in the North Pacific and North Atlantic, providing context for the evolutionary history of the Calonectris clade.
Diet & Feeding
