A Middle Triassic ichnospecies from the Netherlands, Coelurosaurichnus ratumensis is named for the Ratum locality (present-day Rheden). These tridactyl tracks are among the rare Triassic dinosauriform ichnofossils from the Netherlands, extending the known range of coelurosaur-grade trackmakers into the coastal lowlands of the Germanic Triassic Basin.

Coelurosaurichnus ratumensis lived during the Triassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 247,2 to 237,0 million years ago.

The middle Triassic saw the continued recovery of life and the emergence of early dinosauriforms. Archosaurs diversified into the ancestors of both dinosaurs and crocodilians.
