†Ara tricolor (Cuban Macaw) was an extinct macaw endemic to Cuba, last recorded in 1864. A medium-sized red, orange, yellow, and blue macaw feeding on fruits, seeds, and nuts, it was intensively hunted for food and the pet trade. Subfossil bones and museum specimens document its former abundance across Cuban forests and adjacent keys before European colonisation.
