†Aramornis longurio was an extinct long-legged Limpkin relative (family Aramidae) from the Miocene to Pliocene of the United States. Its long tibiotarsus suggests a taller, more cursorial lifestyle than the modern Limpkin. A carnivore-omnivore likely feeding on aquatic molluscs and invertebrates in freshwater marshes, it represents the greater historical diversity of aramid birds in North America.
Diet & Feeding
Aramornis longurio was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
