A Pleistocene vulture from Shasta County, California, Coragyps shastensis is an extinct species from the New World vulture genus Coragyps. A large carnivorous scavenger from North American Quaternary deposits, it is part of a diverse fossil vulture assemblage documenting the rich raptor fauna that exploited Pleistocene megafaunal communities before the end-Pleistocene extinctions.
