Recovered from Eocene La Meseta Formation of Seymour Island, this fish-eating flightless bird inhabited early Paleogene Antarctic waters. Its wing-flipper proportions illuminate the transition from aerial to aquatic locomotion in penguin evolution.
Diet & Feeding
Delphinornis arctowskii was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
