This carnivorous or scavenging bird possessed an impressive wingspan and likely soared over South American grasslands hunting or scavenging megafauna. Its Pampean fossils contribute to understanding the diverse raptorial avifauna of late Cenozoic South America.
Diet & Feeding
Dryornis pampeanus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
