Ortalis pollicaris is an extinct Quaternary chachalaca (Cracidae) from the United States. A large arboreal galliform with Pleistocene records from southern North America, it was related to the living plain chachalaca.
Diet & Feeding
Ortalis pollicaris was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
