Songziidae is an extinct avian family of Eocene waterbirds from China, also with fossil representatives from France. Their systematic position within Neoaves and ecological role in ancient wetland ecosystems remain subjects of ongoing paleontological research.

Songziidae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
