†Diomedea amsterdamensis is an extinct albatross species closely related to the living Amsterdam albatross (Diomedea amsterdamensis living form). Known from subfossil or Quaternary material, this carnivorous seabird inhabited Southern Ocean waters. Its discovery on Amsterdam Island contributes to understanding the restricted range history of one of the world's rarest living seabirds.
Diet & Feeding
Diomedea amsterdamensis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
