†Dryolimnas augusti is an extinct rail bird closely related to the living Dryolimnas rails, found in the Mascarene or Indian Ocean island region. This flightless or near-flightless carnivorous rail inhabited island ecosystems and fed on invertebrates and small vertebrates. Its extinction likely resulted from introduced predators following European colonization of Indian Ocean islands.
