† Eofringillirostrum parvulum — a small Eocene finch-billed bird from Germany's Messel Formation. Sister taxon to E. boudreauxi. The conical bill suggests a granivorous or insectivorous diet convergent with modern finches (Fringillidae). Messel preservation allows feather color analysis.
Diet & Feeding
Eofringillirostrum parvulum was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
