† Eostrix martinellii — an Eocene owl from North America related to E. gulottai. Small nocturnal carnivore. Part of the early Cenozoic owl radiation that followed the extinction of non-avian dinosaurs. Named for its discoverer; known from fragmentary skull and postcranial elements.
Diet & Feeding
Eostrix martinellii was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
