Megalapteryx didinus was the Upland Moa, the smallest (~1.3m) and most recently extinct of New Zealand's nine moa species. Extraordinary specimens preserve skin, feathers, and even stomach contents; the last individuals survived until ~1450 CE in montane South Island habitats.

Limnofregata azygosternon was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
