Dryornis hatcheri

Dryornis hatcheri

†Dryornis hatcheri is an extinct large carnivorous bird from Cenozoic deposits of Argentina, named after collector John Bell Hatcher. Classified as a teratornithid or large condor-relative, it soared over Patagonian plains preying on or scavenging carrion. Its Neogene South American occurrence documents the richness of large raptorial birds in pre-Pleistocene Patagonia.
