†Dunstanetta johnstoneorum is an extinct anseriform waterfowl from the Miocene of New Zealand, named after the Dunstan Range and the Johnstone family. This herbivorous duck-like bird inhabited Miocene lakes and wetlands in New Zealand's South Island. Its discovery contributes to the sparse record of Cenozoic waterfowl and avian evolution in the New Zealand archipelago.
Diet & Feeding
Dunstanetta johnstoneorum was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
