†Dynamopterus is an extinct genus of large carnivorous seabird from the Oligocene of Europe. Likely a pelagornithid or pseudodontorn (bony-toothed bird), this oceanic predator used serrated bony projections to grip fish. Its European Oligocene occurrence documents the presence of these giant soaring seabirds in ancient Tethyan and North Sea waters.
Diet & Feeding
Dynamopterus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
