† Gavia brodkorbi — an extinct Miocene or Pliocene loon from North America. Piscivorous diving bird; foot-propelled diver in lakes and coastal seas. Named after paleornithologist Pierce Brodkorb. Represents the Neogene diversification of Gaviidae in North America before the modern species-poor fau.
Diet & Feeding
Gavia brodkorbi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
