† Palaeotis weigelti was a large flightless bird (Palaeotididae) from the Eocene of Germany. A herbivore estimated at 80–100 cm tall, it inhabited early Cenozoic European forests. Related to ratites, it represents an early divergence of flightless paleognath lineages in Europe.
