Anabernicula oregonensis is an extinct small duck from the Pliocene (~4 Ma) of Oregon, USA. One of the earliest Anabernicula species, it was named from material recovered from Pliocene lake deposits. Its discovery in Oregon documents the early radiation of small dabbling waterfowl in the Pacific Northwest before the glacial fluctuations of the Pleistocene reshaped western North American habitats.
Diet & Feeding
Anabernicula oregonensis was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
