<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="cepphus-storeri"></dinofyi-dinosaur>† Cepphus storeri is an extinct guillemot from the genus Cepphus (family Alcidae), named in honor of avian palaeontologist Robert W. Storer. A carnivorous diving seabird, it hunted fish and marine invertebrates in the coastal waters of its range. Known from limited fossil material of uncertain precise locality, this species contributes to the Neogene alcid fossil record and the understanding of guillemot evolutionary history prior to the modern assemblage of Cepphus species.
Diet & Feeding
Cepphus storeri was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
