Cepphus storeri

Cepphus storeri

† Cepphus storeri is an extinct guillemot from the genus Cepphus (family Alcidae), named in honor of avian palaeontologist Robert W. Storer. A carnivorous diving seabird, it hunted fish and marine invertebrates in the coastal waters of its range. Known from limited fossil material of uncertain precise locality, this species contributes to the Neogene alcid fossil record and the understanding of guillemot evolutionary history prior to the modern assemblage of Cepphus species.
