A Middle Jurassic ichnospecies from Tajikistan, Coelurosaurichnus romanovskyi preserves tridactyl theropod footprints from Central Asian strata. Named in honour of geologist Grigory Romanovsky, this trackway extends the temporal range of Coelurosaurichnus into the Middle Jurassic and documents bipedal predatory dinosaur activity in ancient Central Asian environments.
Time Period
Coelurosaurichnus romanovskyi lived during the Jurassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 174,7 to 161,5 million years ago.
Dinosaur diversity continued to increase, with the evolution of large sauropods and diverse theropods. Stegosaurs first appeared, and the supercontinent Pangaea was breaking apart.
