Messelirrisor grandis was a large Eocene bird from Messel, Germany, related to rollers or cuckoo-rollers. Preserved in exceptional detail in the Messel oil shale, it documents the early Cenozoic radiation of coraciiform birds in European forest environments.

Leptoptilos titan was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
