Neophrontops dakotensis is an extinct vulture from the Pliocene of South Dakota. This accipitrid document the presence of Old World vulture relatives scavenging carcasses in Late Neogene North American grasslands.
Diet & Feeding
Neophrontops dakotensis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
