† Palaelodus crassipes was an extinct flamingo-relative (Palaelodidae) from the Czech Republic. A carnivorous Miocene wading bird inhabiting European lacustrine ecosystems, its robust tarsometatarsus (crassipes = 'thick-footed') distinguishes it from slimmer congeners.
Diet & Feeding
Palaelodus crassipes was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
