† Palaeoephippiorhynchus dietrichi was an extinct saddle-bill stork relative (Ciconiidae) from Eocene Egypt. A large carnivorous wading bird, it inhabited African river margins and floodplains. Fossils from the Fayum Depression are significant for early African avian paleontology.
