† Palaeotyto was an extinct owl genus (Strigiformes) from the Oligocene of France. Carnivorous nocturnal hunters, they represent early members of the barn owl subfamily Tytoninae. Fossils document the establishment of modern owl families in European Paleogene ecosystems.

Palaeotyto was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
