Thegornis musculosus is a second Oligocene shorebird from Argentina, larger than Thegornis debilis and named for its well-developed musculature as inferred from bone robustness. These early South American sandpipers illuminate the evolution of the Charadriiformes.
Diet & Feeding
Thegornis musculosus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
