Tyto mourerchauvireae is an extinct barn owl from Pliocene deposits of Sardinia, Italy, named for paleontologist Cécile Mourer-Chauviré. This island barn owl likely diverged from mainland populations following the colonization of Sardinia across ancient sea barriers.
Diet & Feeding
Tyto mourerchauvireae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
