Megadyptes antipodes waitaha was a large extinct subspecies of Yellow-eyed Penguin from New Zealand's South Island. Replaced by the modern Megadyptes antipodes following Polynesian settlement, it was distinct in size and was extirpated within centuries of human arrival.
