Asio priscus is an extinct owl recorded from Pleistocene deposits of the United States. This carnivorous strigiform is related to living eared owls and contributes to our understanding of North American Quaternary raptor diversity, a period when large predatory birds shared habitats with megafaunal mammals.
Diet & Feeding
Asio priscus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
