<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="aplonis-diluvialis"></dinofyi-dinosaur>†Aplonis diluvialis was an extinct starling (family Sturnidae) from the Pacific islands, known from subfossil bones found in cave and archaeological deposits. A frugivore-omnivore inhabiting island forest ecosystems, it was one of many Pacific starlings driven to extinction by Polynesian settlement and habitat clearance. Its remains highlight the catastrophic impact of human arrival on Pacific island avifaunas.
Diet & Feeding
Aplonis diluvialis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
