This small carnivorous cursorial bird is known from hindlimb elements and represents an early radiation of running predatory birds on the continent. Its geographic distribution across the Great Plains suggests it was widespread in open Paleogene environments of Laurentian North America.
Diet & Feeding
Bathornis geographicus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
