† Eocrex primus — an Eocene rail (Rallidae) from North America. 'First dawn rail' represents an early member of this diverse waterbird family. Small wading bird inhabiting freshwater marshes. Known from Eocene deposits of the United States; part of the early Cenozoic rallid diversification.

Eocrex primus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
