† Gallicolumba longitarsus — an extinct long-tarsus ground pigeon from Pacific islands. Herbivorous ground-dweller; elongated tarsus suggests cursorial habits unusual for pigeons. Went extinct following Polynesian settlement. Part of the massive pre-European Pacific island avifaunal collapse.
Diet & Feeding
Gallicolumba longitarsus was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
