† Gymnogyps — an extinct condor genus from the Pleistocene of North America. Large carnivorous scavenger related to the extant California condor (G. californianus). Bare-headed carrion feeder; massive wingspan ~2.5 m. Multiple extinct species known from Ice Age deposits; massive megafaunal die-off.

Gymnogyps was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
