Bermuteo avivorus is an extinct buteonine hawk whose fossils have been recovered from Pleistocene cave deposits of Bermuda, though precise provenance details are limited. This carnivorous raptor preyed on seabirds nesting on the oceanic island and represents an example of island raptor evolution. Its extinction coincides with human arrival and deforestation in the Atlantic island chain.
Diet & Feeding
Bermuteo avivorus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
