Bonasa

Bonasa is a genus of grouse (phasianids) with fossil records from Neogene and Quaternary deposits of Spain and Europe. These small omnivorous to herbivorous galliforms inhabit deciduous forests of the northern Holarctic. The ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) of North America and hazel grouse of Eurasia represent living species of this widespread gallinaceous lineage.
