A fossil diving bird from the United States, Colymbus subparvus ('slightly small') is a grebe or loon-like carnivorous waterbird from North American Cenozoic strata. Its remains contribute to the record of diving birds in Paleogene or Neogene North American aquatic ecosystems and document species-level diversity within the colymbus-grade diving bird assemblage.
Diet & Feeding
Colymbus subparvus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
